About the Day
One room.
One record.
Surrender & Jubilation is a full working day — not a conference, not a lecture series. Keynotes frame the stakes. Panels examine how heritage generates economic value and how that value must flow back into the communities that hold it. The Partnership Café over lunch is where commitments actually get made.
The Hampton satellite hub and statewide livestream extend the conversation beyond the room. In-person registration is required.

100 for the 400
Community Weavers
One hundred people across Virginia who have preserved African American cultural heritage — without titles, without headlines, and too often without recognition — will be named, honored, and entered into the permanent record at the Symposium on April 24.
